Coccinellids are found worldwide, with over 5,000 species. Lady bugs are a friendly bug that help keep your home and garden free from aphids, mealybugs and other scale insects. Most coccinellidae have oval, dome-shaped bodies with six short legs. Depending on the species, they can have spots, stripes, or no markings at all. Seven-spotted coccinellidae are red or orange with three spots on each side and one in the middle. They have a black head with white patches on either side. Birds are their main predator along with frogs and lizards. Lady bugs have an average life span of 1 to 2 years. German roaches are the most common house pest in the state of Texas. They live in the home in dark, damp places and in cracks and crevices.
